eGFR (CKD-EPI 2021) & KDIGO Staging

Serum creatinine
Age (years)

Urine ACR (optional)

Adds the albuminuria (A) stage and the KDIGO risk category.

Enter creatinine, age, and sex to see the result.

When eGFR is not valid

  • Acute kidney injury — creatinine is not in steady state.
  • Extremes of muscle mass (amputation, muscle wasting, body builders) or very atypical diet.
  • Pregnancy.

CKD is defined by abnormalities present for > 3 months; a single reading does not stage CKD on its own.

Show formula

Scr (mg/dL) = Scr (µmol/L) ÷ 88.4

eGFR = 142 × min(Scr/κ, 1)α × max(Scr/κ, 1)−1.200 × 0.9938age × 1.012 (if female)

Female: κ = 0.7, α = −0.241 · Male: κ = 0.9, α = −0.302
